Alright lads, bit of a rant here.
I’m a Brit working out in Saudi — oil job, long hours, roasting heat, and when the weekend finally comes round, all I want is to stick the telly on and watch the Prem. Simple, right?
Except nah. Out here it’s all Arabic commentary. Don’t get me wrong, fair play to them, but it’s just not the same. You try watching a last‑minute winner with some bloke shouting a hundred miles an hour in a language you don’t even understand — proper kills the buzz. It ain’t footy without that familiar UK voice losing his mind along with you.
It’s not just Saudi either. I’ve had mates in Spain, Belgium, Germany — all the same story. Either you get dodgy streams that crash quicker than your hopes of England winning a penalty shootout, or you’re stuck with coverage that feels like it’s been commentated by someone who’s only just learned what a corner kick is.
So, after one too many weekends of shouting at dodgy websites and missing proper matchday vibes, I thought sod it — let’s make something useful. That’s how BritFooty was born.
What’s the point of BritFooty?
Look, I’m not Sky Sports. I’m just a bloke abroad who loves the game and wants to watch it properly. BritFooty is basically a guide for other expats like me:
Where to actually watch the Prem overseas without losing your mind.
Which apps and sites are worth it and which are just dodgy time‑wasters.
Keeping the proper commentary alive — because none of us signed up for American pundits calling it “soccer”.
Why bother?
Because it’s bloody miserable missing the game. Football isn’t just ninety minutes on a screen, it’s the sound, the banter, the atmosphere. When you’re stuck abroad, away from your mates and the pub, that little slice of home matters.
So yeah, that’s why this site exists. I built BritFooty for me, but also for every Brit stuck in some random country, wondering how the hell they’re supposed to keep up with the Prem.
Whether you’re in Saudi like me, or sipping beers in Spain, or freezing your arse off in Germany — you deserve proper football, with proper voices.
And that’s exactly what BritFooty’s about.
